Moersch Copper Bleach 500ml

18.10 inc VAT

For bleach and re-development in Lith developer or sulfide toners.

Some non-lithable papers can be redeveloped in colour in the lith developer after conventional development and rehalogenation. Of course, normal prints can also be redeveloped on lith-capable papers.
In addition to a lith developer, a copper sulphate bleacher is required. The prints to be redeveloped must be darker and softer than with normal processing.
After bleaching and a short soaking, the prints are redeveloped in highly diluted lith developer. The development should be interrupted as soon as the highlight areas show yellow or reddish markings.

Second Pass Lith Information

Can also be used to reduce the contrast in overdeveloped negatives

Here’s a breakdown of its purpose:

  • Application: Targets negatives that have been developed for too long, resulting in excessive contrast with very dark shadows and harsh highlights.
  • Function: The copper sulfate solution in the bleach selectively lightens the denser areas (highlights) of the negative, effectively reducing the overall contrast and bringing back detail in the highlights.
  • Benefits:
    • Rescues over-developed negatives: Allows you to potentially salvage negatives that would otherwise be unusable due to excessive contrast.
    • Improves image quality: By reducing contrast, Moersch Copper Bleach helps achieve a more balanced and natural-looking final image.

Additional Notes:

  • Moersch Copper Bleach is used in conjunction with a re-development process. After bleaching, the negative is washed and then re-developed in a standard developer to achieve the final desired density and contrast.
  • It’s important to note that this is a corrective technique and may not completely restore severely over-developed negatives.
  • Wearing gloves and eye protection is crucial when handling photographic chemicals like Moersch Copper Bleach.
